UK Visas
The UK issues short term visas to those entering the country for the purposes of tourism as well as those who wish to conduct business activities in Britain excluding employment. Short stay UK visas are also valid for those visiting family and friends in the UK and for those travelling to the United Kingdom in order to undergo medical treatment.

UK Tourist Visa
A UK tourist visa, often variously referred to as a UK visit visa or travel visa is issued for a maximum period of six months after which the applicant will be obliged to return to their country of residence. A UK visitor visa is issued as a temporary permit and does not provide a route to permanent residency in the UK. Although a visit visa may be granted as a multiple entry visa with an overall duration of up to two years, the total amount of time spent in the UK must still not exceed 6 months and applicants must leave the UK once their leave to enter the UK has expired. A travel visa does not provide the opportunity to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK or to pursue a grant of UK citizenship.
Applying for a UK Tourist Visa – Eligibility Requirements
Entering the UK on a temporary visit visa requires candidates to demonstrate that they can financially support themselves throughout their time in the UK and that they have the genuine intention to depart once their visa expires.
UK Business Visit Visa
Like a UK tourist visa, the business visit visa allows a candidate to enter the UK for up to six months. UK business visit visas should not be confused with the group of UK immigration services generally referred to as UK business visas which provide permanent routes to living and working in the UK. This group includes the UK investor visa, Entrepreneur visa and Innovator visa all of which are intended for those who wish to relocate to the UK on a permanent basis in order to start or buy into a business, or invest in the UK economy.
Unlike the long-term business visas for the UK, a business visit visa does not allow its holder to work in the UK and permits a candidate to enter the country for no more than an overall duration of than six months. Although, like a tourist visa, a business visit visa may be granted as a multiple entry visa valid for up to 2 years, the actual time spent in the UK must not exceed the six month maximum.
UK Visit Visas for Medical Purposes
UK medical visitor visas are granted for six months as a single entry or multiple entry permit and may be extended if it can be shown that the treatment being undertaken requires the patient to remain in Britain for longer. This type of UK visa is only issued for the express purpose of travelling to the UK in order to undergo medical treatment and is only granted where a candidate does not have a terminal illness. Applicants must be undergoing private treatment and they must be able to fund themselves and cover their medical bills whilst in the UK.
